Clams are Pre-Hardmode enemies that spawn in the Sunken Sea biome. They are initially passive, but become hostile after taking damage three times. While hostile, they chase the player by making short leaps towards them.

If the Giant Clam is hostile, the spawn rate of Clams is drastically increased via the Clamity debuff, which causes them to become instantly aggressive as well. The Giant Clam also occasionally spawns groups of Clams while hostile.

Once the world enters Hardmode, Clams receive a boost to their stats.

Notes[]

  • Clams do not deal contact damage while they are passive.
  • Minions will not target passive Clams unless they have been hit by another weapon.
  • Damage taken from debuffs does not count as damage taken towards making them hostile.
  • If a Clam is outside of water (either led outside of water or summoned by the Giant Clam outside of water), it will move faster.
