The Slime God is a Pre-Hardmode boss that can be fought anywhere. The boss is comprised of three main parts, the Ebonian Slime God, the Crimulan Slime God, and the Core itself. All three will spawn upon the use of the Overloaded Sludge, regardless of whether the world generated contains Corruption or Crimson.

Spawn[edit | edit source]

The Slime God does not spawn on its own and requires the player to summon it with the Overloaded Sludge.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

The Slime God encounter is made up of three individual bosses: The Ebonian Slime God, Crimulan Slime God, and The Slime God itself. Each has its own unique behaviors and attacks.

If gravity is reversed, such as when using a Gravitation Potion, The Slime God Core will enrage, significantly increasing its movement speed.

Ebonian and Crimulan Slime Gods[edit | edit source]

  • Will jump toward the player similarly to other slimes.
  • Occasionally flies over the player and attempts to drop down directly on top of them.
  • Teleports near the player when they are at least 337.5 tiles away.
  • Quickly boost themselves towards the player when they are at least 150 tiles away.
  • Fire Abyss Ball Crimson.png Abyss BallAbyss Balls at the player when they are at least 10 tiles away.
    • Ebonian Slime God fires four balls and has a shooting cooldown of 10 / 6.67 seconds. If the Crimulan Slime God is defeated, this reduces to 3.75 / 3 seconds.
    • Crimulan Slime God fires two balls and has a shooting cooldown of 7.5 / 5 seconds. If the Ebonian Slime God is defeated, this reduces to 5 / 4 seconds.
  • Spawn smaller slimes as it takes damage.
    • Ebonian Slime God spawns 1-2 Corrupt Slime SpawnCorrupt Slime Spawns every 20% of its health lost.
    • Crimulan Slime God spawns a Crimson Slime SpawnCrimson Slime Spawn every 15% of its health lost. There is a 33.33% chance for the slime to be Spiked Crimson Slime Spawnspiked.
  • Defeating one slime will buff the other.
    • If the Crimulan Slime God is defeated, Ebonian Slime God will double its movement-based attack rates.
    • If the Ebonian Slime God is defeated, Crimulan Slime God will double its defense.

The Slime God (Core)[edit | edit source]

  • Constantly accelerates towards the player, inflicting the Distorted Debuff on hit.
  • When damaged, can rush at and enter one of the other Slime Gods, becoming invulnerable for 10 seconds. For the duration, the possessed god will gain certain boosts.
    • All possessed slimes will temporarily gain Death Mode AI.
    • Ebonian Slime God will gain 22 / 44 damage and 20 defense.
    • Crimulan Slime God will gain 25 / 50 damage and 24 defense.
  • Transitions into Phase 2 at 20% health. If both Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods have been defeated, it will transition at 40% health instead.
    • Continues to accelerate at the player at a faster pace with a higher maximum speed.
    • Continuously releases a random spread of two Abyss Ball Crimson.png Abyss BallAbyss Balls as it travels.

In Expert Mode[edit | edit source]

  • Increases acceleration and speed to all slimes.
  • The Slime Gods have a 50% chance to fire Abyss Ball Crimson.png Abyss BallAbyss Mines instead of Abyss Balls. Mines exponentially slow to a stop and linger in place for 50 seconds before exploding and despawning.
    • The Slime God Core and Ebonian Slime God will always fire one less mine.
  • The Ebonian and Crimulan Slime Gods will split into two smaller slimes once they reach half health. They behave similarly to the non-split gods, with some minor changes.
    • They are unable to teleport near the player when they are too far away.
    • They quickly boost themselves towards the player when they are at least 225 tiles away, instead of 150.
    • Split Ebonian Slime God will gain 40 damage and 16 defense when possessed.
    • Split Ebonian Slime God fires two balls and has a shooting cooldown of 20 / 10 seconds. If the Crimulan Slime God is defeated, this reduces to 10 / 6.67 seconds.
    • Split Crimulan Slime God will gain 44 damage and 20 defense when possessed.
    • Split Crimulan Slime God fires one ball and has a shooting cooldown of 15 / 7.5 seconds. If the Ebonian Slime God is defeated, this reduces to 7.5 / 5 seconds.

In Revengeance Mode[edit | edit source]

  • Increases acceleration and speed to all slimes, higher as their health decrease.
  • Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods fire Abyss Balls and Mines more frequently.
  • In Phase 2, instead of releasing projectiles at a continuous pace, the Slime God Core teleports near the player and travels in a circle while firing projectiles at the player.

In Death Mode[edit | edit source]

  • Increases acceleration and speed to all slimes, higher as their health decrease.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The Slime God component defeated last will be the one to drop the loot.
    • 180 to 250 Gel will always be dropped directly by the final Slime God component regardless of mode. 30 to 60 Gel is contained in the Slime God's Treasure Bag, bringing the total possible amount of Gel dropped in Expert to a minimum of 210 and a maximum of 310.
  • Purified Jam can only be obtained once per character and world, making farming for it possible yet tedious.
  • The Ebonian and Crimulan Slime Gods can teleport with players if they use any recall items far from their spawn points.

Tips[edit | edit source]

For more elaborate strategies on defeating The Slime God, including weapon and arena recommendations, see Guide:The Slime God strategies.
  • Do not run too far away, or otherwise, the Slime Gods will ram the player at very high speed, making it very difficult to dodge them. Try to keep them on the screen to avoid getting hit easily.
  • Avoid the Slime God Core at all costs because the Distorted debuff it inflicts can make you easy prey for the Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods.
  • Using a hook or minecart track can help the player with avoiding the boss if the player gets the Distorted debuff.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Slime God's theme is Return to Slime, which was composed by the artists DM DOKURO and SixteenInMono.
    • This theme contains motifs from The Perforators and The Hive Mind's themes.
    • If the Calamity Music add-on mod is disabled, Boss 1 will play instead.
    • In the theme, a voice shouts some unknown words.
  • Unlike all the other bosses, the Slime God has 2 Masks, one for the Crimulan Slime God and another for the Ebonian Slime God. This is similar to the fact that The Twins and Calamitas have multiple different Trophies.
    • Only one of the two masks can drop at a time.
  • The Slime God was one of the first bosses added to the Calamity Mod, along with the Desert Scourge and The Devourer of Gods.

Lore[edit | edit source]

The Slime God, one of the very first creatures to ever come to exist in the Terrarian's world, is the core and control unit of all things slimy. Slimes are some of the first creatures to evolve from the very first living cells present from ancient times, and even though they do not possess sentience themselves their 'core' is what gives them shape and allows them to move about the world. The slime god was born after a bacteria evolved and began consuming other bacteria around it. Eventually, after gaining enough cellular mass it began absorbing larger flora and fauna, gaining intelligence from each creature it enveloped. It became large enough to begin influencing other beings around it through telekinesis. Through telekinetic energy the slime god shapes its slimes from water and various dead plant and animal matter, it then wills them to consume more dead matter to continue growing the slime population. Through this process the slime god has formed the Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods to defend itself from any possible threats.
